Who is it for?

If your BMI is between 25 and 40* and you're looking to lose weight whilst improving your fitness and health in a group of like-minded people, then our Men's Health Challenge might be what you are looking for.

*If your BMI is between 30 and 39.9 some health conditions may also affect eligibility 

What does it involve?

The challenge aims to support you to lose weight and improve your fitness and health. Particpants will compete over a 12-week period to win points for their team across a variety of health and activity based challenges. 

Horsham District Wellbeing will provide lots of advice, information and resources, and instructors at The Bridge and Billingshurst Leisure Centres provide weekly activity sessions where points are awarded to the winning team. 

All participants will have access to the gym and group exercise classes at their chosen leisure centre throughout the challenge**.

Both challenges will start with an individual “Mini MOT” looking at body composition and your health goals, followed by an introductory session in the leisure centre gym. After this session you will be split into two competing teams. 

Weeks 2-11 will rotate through a timetable of different activities delivered by staff from the leisure centre. Activities may include things like pickleball, weight lifting, circuits and group cycling. Within each session there will be one activity where there will be a chance of earning points for your team and each week the leaderboard will be shared so you can track how well your team is doing.

The course finishes with a final MOT session, after which the final points will be awarded and the winning team announced and awarded their prize. 

When is it?

The Bridge Challenge:

The first session (Mini MOT) at The Bridge is on Monday 3rd February 2025 and will be followed by an introductory session in the leisure centre gym (you will be allocated a start time between 5.30 and 7.30pm and will need to allow approxiamtely 1hr 15 minutes). 

Subsequent weeks will take place every Monday from 5.30-6.30pm

 

The Billingshurst Challenge:

The first session (Mini MOT) at Billingshurst is on Tuesday 11th February 2025 and will be followed by an introductory session in the leisure centre gym (you will be allocated a start time between 5.30 and 7.30pm and will need to allow approxiamtely 1hr 15 minutes).

Subsequent weeks will take place every Tuesday from 7:30-8:30pm

 

Support from Horsham District Wellbeing

You will have the option to receive free one-to-one support from our Wellbeing Advisors (online, in person or via telephone) and each week we will share the leader board, as well as nutritional advice based around the Eat Well guide, and other tips to improve your health and wellbeing. 

There will be the option to continue your membership with Places Leisure if appropriate at the end of the 12-week course.
