Emotional Eating & Unhelpful behaviours

Allmond Centre, Cowfold

Tuesday 9th January 2024, 9.30am-12.30pm

Emotional eating is using food to help soothe unpleasant feelings and emotions. Changing the way we eat can be difficult enough, but nothing will work unless we address the underlying cause of emotional eating. Learning to recognise triggers is the first step towards breaking free from unhealthy eating habits and behaviours which are often accumulated over many years. There are many reasons why we emotionally eat, and this course looks at identifying your triggers and barriers and what steps you can put in place to overcome these challenges. It can also be applied to any unhealthy behaviour such as excessive drinking or smoking.

This workshop will include:

  • Reasons for wanting to change and readiness for change
  • Knowing the difference between genuine hunger and emotional eating
  • How the brain regulates emotions
  • Identifying triggers, barriers or challenges that may be preventing change
  • Simple steps and tools for managing emotional eating and preventing unhealthy behaviours

Disclaimer: Our advisors can provide helpful tips and advice but they are not medically trained and can't answer questions on any medications you may be taking.  If you have any medical questions you should seek advice from your GP.
