Our free group talks and workshops are a friendly and informal way to find out information on a range of subjects:
Heart Smart - Preventing Cardiovascular Disease
Thursday 20th February 2025, 5:30-7:30pm in Horsham Wellbeing Hub (Booking essential).
This workshop is for anyone looking to prevent cardiovascular disease or improve their overall health. It aims at encouraging people to take more control of their health by giving them the knowledge and tools to help improve their heart health and reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease.
It will include:
The causes and risk factors of CVD including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking, physical activity, age and genetics as well as identifying personal risk factors
Simple diet and lifestyle changes to improve your health and reduce your risk
How to manageably incorporate exercise into your daily routine
Managing stress
Monitoring your health metrics and tests available
Personal goal setting
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of illness but can be preventable with some simple lifestyle changes. Join us for this free 2-hour workshop to help you improve your health and reduce your risk.

Understanding Cholesterol

Come along to our friendly and informal group talk (Booking Essential) in Horsham Wellbeing Hub, Swan Walk, Horsham.
The talk aims to give you the knowledge and guidance to show how a few small steps can improve your cholesterol levels and your overall general health.
During the session you will learn:
- What cholesterol is and the role it plays in the body.
- Why it is important to lower your raised cholesterol.
- How your lifestyle can impact on your cholesterol levels.
- How a few small changes can help to lower your cholesterol and reduce your risks of cardiovascular disease.

Understanding Blood Pressure
Are you keen to learn more about why a healthy lifestyle is important to help manage blood pressure? This short talk will cover:
• What blood pressure is?
• Complications associated with untreated blood pressure.
• Risk factors that can increase your risk of developing high blood pressure.
• Why it’s important to know your blood pressure.
• What small steps can I take towards lowering my blood pressure?
• What free support is available from Horsham Wellbeing to help you get started with lowering your blood pressure?

Let's Talk About Sleep
One in three people live with a sleep disorder which if left untreated can lead to disease such as heart disease and diabetes; weight gain; anxiety; depression and a lowered immune response.
This short talk will look at factors affecting sleep and highlights the reasons why we are finding it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep through the night. We will show you how to work out your best sleep time and figure out what type of sleeper you are and how many hours you really need. We also offer helpful tools and advice to support you getting a good night sleep.
This talk is suitable for people who have mild to moderate sleep issues. If you suffer with insomnia or any health conditions that are affecting your sleep, you should contact your GP. You must also live OR work in the Horsham district to book a place.

Managing The Menopause Group Workshop
Our new menopause workshop offers support and advice on how to manage menopause symptoms, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), alternative therapies, talking to your partner and the impact it can have in the workplace.
This is for those wishing to listen and/or share experiences with others and aims to help you navigate your way through what can be a challenging chapter in a woman’s life.
