Alcohol advice service

""

Our new free service provides a series of one-to-one sessions to support people who may be drinking at increasing risk or higher risk levels. This might have been identified by a health professional or if someone recognises that they are drinking at a problematic level and either want to cut down or stop drinking altogether to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

It is a confidential, non-judgmental service with no group work involved and people are not expected to stop drinking completely unless they want to.

Throughout the course of the 6-8 sessions, we encourage people to make positive changes in the here and now rather than focusing on things that can’t be changed in the past. This approach is based on an Extended Brief Intervention structure using Motivational Interviewing techniques.

Each session last approximately 45 mins and we are pleased to be able to offer these face-to- face, over the phone or via video call. Although you can have up to 8 sessions, you can opt to have fewer or just the one.

Take a look at our Alcohol advice service video (YouTube - new window) in which Sam, our Alcohol Advisor, tells you a little bit more about the sessions she offers.

If you feel drink is sneaking up on you and you could benefit from this service, it is very easy to be referred or to refer yourself:
