The Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing confidential emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The core of Samaritans' work is a telephone helpline, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They support anyone who needs them through 201 branches across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Samaritans offers a drop-in service for face-to-face discussion, undertakes outreach at festivals and other outdoor events, trains prisoners as "Listeners" to provide support within prisons, and undertakes research into suicide and emotional health issues.

Samaritans is free to call on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland and our phone number will not appear on an itemised telephone bill.

Crawley & Horsham branch details:  tel. 01403 276276 (local call charges apply) / National telephone: 116 123 (this number is free to call)
